Summers and mentorship at IES

Hey friends,
Its almost end of december ,me and my mates at IES are waiting for rite company to join in for summers .its Recession time rite now ,but i havent seen recession atleast for marketing sector. I wanna pursue my majors in finance but ders no finance company for summers as compared to que of mktg companies every alternate days . Though our seniors got good companies for Finance with good packages ,still summers r quite far away for finance aspirant like me. but still its winter rite now in december hoping v get some good finance companies in campus for our summers.

Mentor system at IES is simply awesome. U can go and talk to ur mentor ,mentor share experience ,they try to prepare u in terms of within and out of syllabus, xtra knowledge etc ,
simply its feel like u have an added advantage with u ..all mentors are been helpful and quite realistic.. IES has delivered on its core values

Exams come to an end.

Exams ended on 26th. But the same night there was a terrorist attack in Mumbai. They attacked some of the high security areas and posh locations frequented by foreign nationals. The message was loud and clear terrorist are the most secular groups who do not differentiate who dies they sprayed bullets with indifference. A couple of high profile police officers were the targets and they had to lay their life on the line of duty. As I write this the action is still going on. Hope soon the situation is brought under control and life comes back to normalcy. Praying for all those to lost their life in this horrible incident. May their soul rest in peace.

Its Exam time....

Its not that we at IES are just busy conducting events. Its exam time from Nov 17. So that marks the end of Sem 1. People are in a frenzy studying subjects ranging from Organisational Behaviour to Stats and Costing.

And then you always find people like me logged on to internet and chatting on gtalk. But there are others who sit and study very religiously. So hats off to those people and even I will now go and study something

Ciao

Guest Lectures, Events and more…

It's been a long time since I have updated this blog. Two reasons First one, time has become a precious thing and secondly I also wanted some others to contribute to this. Anyways it seems that not many people are keen on doing something like this. I have made a lot of efforts to make it simple but it seems it has not caught anyone's fancy.

So a lot of things happened while the blog was not updated

We had a company Johnson Controls India on campus for a survey. The visit had one more dimension that they wanted to know the college and have a first hand experience. This may result into some summer placements. The parent company is on the Fortune 500 list.

We had a guest lecture on Insurance Sector which was also a good one. It was quite an eye opener and we had a person from LIC India who knew the topic and was passionate about the same as well. He was also selling insurance as a MLM…(Hmm….Nice concept)

We had a guest lecture by Nick Parikh from US consulate on Business Communication. This person has worked in various capacities in IT firms like IBM etc. It was supposed to be a lecture on communication but Nick threw it open for any question, there were questions covering Sub- prime, Funds flow, Election results etc. It was over all a good session…

We had a fresher party in the quadrangle in the college. It was a dance party had some fun moments. That's what I can remember right now… I will try to keep posting more frequently…

IES celebrated Dahi Handi

I have not updated the blog for quite a while, we celebrated Dahi Handi on 23rd August. I am updating the pics as well. We had two matki for each class it was fun. But Yogesh had his hands fractured. Our class managed to break the pot in a single attempt. Guys also visited a old age home as part of RYTHM. A good initative by college. We had a convocation today will post the details once I have the pics with me. It was quite an event...!!!

Guest Lectures:

We had our first guest lecture on 28th. A development manager from LIC. The lecture was about Insurance sector as a whole how it works and how it contributes towards the society(GDP of the country) About history of insurance as a concept, different policies, etc etc... It was quite nice to hear some one from a PSU talk to you because these interactions clear some misconceptions like employees at PSU do not work etc. This person was knowledgable about his business and that came through in the interaction. It was a nice begining of guest lectures. !!!
